ACCOUNTING

TAX SERVICES

The old adage of farming being a “way of life” no longer rings completely true. Farming is very much a serious business these days, much like any manufacturing or service industry within the community. Even the smallest dairy farm operations can show assets in excess of $1 million, as milk quota, in many cases with this size of unit, is the main contributor to the farm balance sheet. What business in town could afford not to know their financial position at any specified time? What dairy farm within a community could afford not to know their financial position, herd production, or milk production cost and profitability at any specified time?

Today’s dairy farmer lives in a whole different world, than the dairy farmer of a decade ago. Today’s dairy farmer needs to know and understand:

  • dairy farm economics
  • accounting and bookkeeping of the farm’s activities
  • know the milk production cost and profitability
  • herd management and feed nutrition
  • budget planning and forecasting farm earnings
  • implementing performance goals and benchmarks
  • knowing the break-even level for milk production profitability
  • the importance of making informed decision

Today our economic world, volatile markets, fuel cost and milk prices can have an immediate impact on your farm profitability. Knowing your production cost and profitability per CWT pounds of milk generated are vital.

Today the agriculture lender seeks more comprehensive accounting, tax and herd production information than ever before.

In today’s world, information is requested more frequent and request include more comprehensive numbers. To make the challenge more stressful, credit lines are much more contingent upon detail accounting, property valuation and herd production cost and profitability.

Banking regulatory agencies overseeing agriculture lending, now work with more comprehensive Federal and State lending regulations than before. This is a result of bank charge offs, economic conditions and volatile markets.

In today’s dairy farm finance and production world, Dairy Keeper will provide you accurate and timely financial, herd, production and tax information for making informed decisions in managing your dairy farm.
